Etsy fees vs a Shopify store, for your numbers.
Type in a normal month. You’ll see what Etsy takes, what a store would cost, and the sales level where the store starts to make sense. Free, no email needed.
One thing a receipt can’t show: Etsy sends you buyers. A new store gets almost none on its own, so most makers keep both and move repeat customers over.

How we count
Etsy, US sellers: 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing at 3% + $0.25 per order, and a $0.20 listing fee each time an item sells. A buyer who takes two items from one listing pays that fee twice, and this calculator counts it once per order. Offsite Ads only charge on the orders they bring: 15%, or 12% once your shop has passed $10,000 in sales over the previous 365 days (it stays 12% after that).
Shopify: the plan price you enter, online card payments at 2.9% + $0.30 with Shopify Payments, plus whatever apps you enter. Free themes cost nothing.
Left out on both sides: shipping, currency conversion, Etsy Ads, taxes, and your time. Etsy’s transaction fee is charged on the item price plus shipping and gift wrap, and its payment processing fee on the whole sale including shipping and sales tax, so a shop that charges for shipping pays a little more than shown.
